What is this?
This is a bulletin board/newsletter for the VFA Fellow/Alumni community in the wake of VFA’s closure on August 6. This organized by the VFA Community Collective (a thing we just made up! especially since the VFA Alumni Board shut down on August 28). Our intention is for this to be sent at the beginning of each month for a year, and we'll reevaluate after that.
Why a newsletter?
In response to a poll about community-building, the overwhelming majority of participants voted for a newsletter as well as standardized and open Slack groups for every major and VFA city (those exist; keep scrolling!). So, here we are!
Who?
Receiving: All Fellows/Alumni that we have email addresses for have been subscribed. IMPORTANT: ** no ** email listservs affiliated with @ventureforamerica[.]org work any more. We have attempted to scrape together a list of all Fellows/alumni on our own. It is totally okay if you want to unsubscribe!
Making: This is a volunteer initiative (as well as all initiatives shared below). This newsletter was started and run monthly by Amanda Tien (‘15, Providence & New Orleans) from September 2025 - July 2025; Akhil Aniff (‘18, Cleveland) will take over starting in August 2025. What is in the newsletter?
This newsletter has gone through a couple of different formats, but it’s primarily separated into two sections (submit blurbs for the next newsletter here). We also encourage folx to leave comments on each newsletter if you’re so inclined.
Community Updates & Events - these are any activities meant for the broader VFA Fellow and Alumni community, for and by Fellows. Example: Reunion, Rise group outreach, skillshare workshops for Fellows, etc. (We're *all* "alumni" now lol.)
Bulletin Board - any blurb you want to share :) Share your wins! Share something you wrote! Have an ask? Want to hype up your friend who’s doing something really cool!? Put it here!
Submit a blurb
We welcome short blurbs for the newsletter. This form is reviewed at the end of every month in advance of the next newsletter. Please use this form to submit blurbs.
